Prototype of an Automatic Clothes Folding Machine for Laundry based Internet of Things
The laundry service at an Islamic boarding school-based vocational school faces challenges due to limited human resources and an increasing number of orders, leading to delays in folding clothes. To address this problem, an Internet of Things (IoT)-based automatic shirt folding device was developed using an experimental approach. The device is powered by an Arduino Uno microcontroller, with an ESP8266 WiFi module for internet connectivity. Activation is achieved through a push button, and the MG966R Servo Motor handles the folding mechanism. A buzzer alerts users when folding is complete, and data is stored in a MySQL local database. Results from user feedback indicate high satisfaction with the prototype, with 96% of respondents expressing satisfaction regarding the device’s performance. The lowest satisfaction score was 78%, suggesting areas for improvement. Overall, the IoT-based automatic shirt folding tool significantly enhances the efficiency of the laundry process, facilitating both folding and data management.
