AI-Enhanced EEG-Based Personalized Mental Health Solution
The study thoroughly explores integrating Artificial Intelligence methodologies with mental health assessment, leveraging Electroencephalogram (EEG) data. Specifically, it endeavours to predict various mental states, including Focus, Stress, Interest, Relaxation, Excitement, and Engagement. Notably, the research employs two distinct types of EEG data: EpocX, which encompasses 14 channels, and Insight, comprising 5 channels. The achieved predictive accuracies for EpocX data are as follows: Focus (82.48%), Stress (81.02%), Interest (90.33%), Relaxation (78.22%), Excitement (71.45%), and Engagement (75%). Conversely, for Insight data, the accuracy metrics stand at: Focus (64.92%), Stress (80.25%), Interest (82.46%), Relaxation (74.45%), Excitement (60.36%), and Engagement (56.71%). Remarkably, unlike conventional studies that predominantly concentrate on classification tasks, this research diverges by tackling the regression aspect of the problem. This nuanced approach aims to furnish a finer-grained comprehension of individual interest levels. Leveraging the EEG data collected from participants utilizing both EpocX and Insight devices, the study harnesses sophisticated machine learning techniques to develop regression models adept at predicting the precise levels of parameters exhibited by individuals in response to visual stimuli. The methodology likely encompasses advanced regression algorithms such as Support Vector Regression (SVR), Random Forest Regression, or Gradient Boosting Regression. It is plausible that meticulous feature engineering and selection techniques have been implemented to optimize model performance. Moreover, including robust cross-validation methodologies would be instrumental in assessing the models' generalization capabilities and resilience. Overall, the research findings culminate in invaluable insights into the potential efficacy of EEG-based regression models in mental health assessment. Such contributions hold profound implications for advancing computational psychiatry and cognitive neuroscience, offering promising avenues for future research and clinical applications.
