Implementation of Interpolation Techniques to Increase the Realism of Camera Movement in 3D Animation
Camera movement plays a crucial role in 3D animation, significantly impacting visual quality and viewer engagement. However, achieving realistic and smooth camera transitions remains a challenge, often resulting in jarring or unnatural movements that detract from the overall animation quality. This research addresses this gap by exploring and implementing various interpolation techniques to enhance the realism of camera movements in 3D animation. We evaluate linear, cubic, and spherical linear interpolation (SLERP) algorithms, among others, to predict intermediate camera positions between keyframes. Our methodology involves selecting appropriate interpolation techniques, implementing them in 3D animation software, and conducting comparative analyses of their effectiveness. Results demonstrate that advanced interpolation techniques, particularly SLERP and cubic interpolation, significantly improve the smoothness and naturalness of camera movements compared to traditional linear interpolation. These findings contribute to the development of more immersive and visually appealing 3D animations, with potential applications across entertainment, education, and visualization industries.
