A New Algorithm Formulating the Stability Criteria by the Values of AESE and TVSE for Evaluating the Dynamic States in Multi-Machine Power Systems

This paper proposes a new algorithm with the transient energy function (TEF) expression, mathematically modeled by the accumulative values of transient energy indices, and transient voltage stability estimation (TVSE) values, which allow evaluation of the dynamic states in multi-machine power system operations, considering the automatic control impacts of voltage and frequency regulations. The new proposed formulas for stability criteria include accelerating energy stability estimation (AESE), decelerating energy stability estimation (DESE), and combining with the values of transient voltage stability estimation. In this article, typical examples and discussions are shown and focused on the investigation of typical fault types, such as the three-phase short-circuit, the single-phase to ground short-circuit, the phase-to-phase to ground short-circuit occurring on typical transmission lines, and the cases of sudden line-outage with single-shot automatic line reclosing (ALR). The provided results illustrate the advantages of the proposed new formulas of stability criteria for evaluating the dynamic state in multi-machine power systems.
