Data Warehouse Model for Outcome-based Education Curriculum based on Labeled Property Graph

The implementation of a curriculum in a program requires continuous analyses to assess whether the intended learning outcomes have been achieved. These analyses necessitate a data warehouse that integrates various data from multiple sources. This study proposes a data warehouse model based on a labeled property graph to support the evaluation of an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum. The Design Science Research method was employed to identify issues, develop a model as a solution, create an instantiation of the model, and evaluate it. The goal of the model is to assess whether the achievements of Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) effectively support the achievement of Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs). The model includes representations of program and course learning outcomes, assessments, classes, and learning indicators. Evaluations of the proposed model involved nine queries to determine whether it can support the required curriculum analyses, as well as a comparison of the query performance between the graph database and a relational database. The evaluation results indicate that the model effectively supports the required analyses and performs more efficiently with larger datasets compared to a similar star schema database.
