An Analysis of Critical Failure Factors in Silo Data Management: Indonesian Bus Company

Bus companies in Indonesia experience difficulties in managing their data. Fragmented data in data silos makes decision making ineffective and inefficient. This research aims to find out what factors cause poor data quality and the emergence of data silos in bus companies. This study has conducted interviews with 21 people with different job description in Indonesia bus companies. This study shows that critical failure factor cause poor data quality in bus companies, whether there is about 85% lack of using technology that company has given and also lack of training about the technology, 80% have difficulties at reporting, and about 70% lack of understanding of the importance of data quality, or a mismatch between business needs and the information systems used.
