Performance Analysis of Kyber-DNA and RSA-Base64 Algorithms in Symmetric Key-Exchange Protocol
The massive usage of internet on the global scale raises the need for the availability of some security mechanism inside of every communication channel, like Transport Security Layer (TLS). However, the steady development of quantum computing technology is threatening TLS that normally uses conventional cryptography algorithms such as RSA. One of the algorithms that may be used as an alternative is the combination between Kyber algorithm with DNA encoding (Kyber-DNA). This research implemented and comparatively analyzed the speed performance between Kyber-DNA and RSA (RSA-Base64) algorithm in the context of TLS mechanism. During the process of key generation and decryption, Kyber-DNA shows a faster performance compared to RSA-Base 64, while during the encryption process, RSA-Base64 in the variant of RSA-3072-Base64, has the most optimal performance. Of all the three measured aspects, Kyber-DNA algorithm in general shows a higher speed performance compared to RSA-Base64, so that it can be concluded that the algorithm itself is suitable to be used for the era of post-quantum.
