The Importance of Natural Gas and LNG in the Clean Energy Transition for International Oil Companies

In the context of global energy security and environmental protection, all countries are accelerating the energy transition, and the international major oil companies have made positive responses in the transition to clean energy. In order to explore the important role of natural gas and LNG in the transition process of international oil companies, this paper analyzes the driving forces to promote the transition of energy structure to natural gas, describes the specific applications of natural gas and LNG in industry, power generation, transportation and other fields, and describes the specific strategies adopted by international oil companies such as Shell and BP in the transition process. The economic and environmental benefits of the natural gas transition are assessed and the challenges the oil industry faces in this development are noted.
