A High-Efficiency mmWave Rectifier Based on Substrate-Integrated Suspended Lines

In this letter, a novel high-efficiency millimeter-wave (mmWave) rectifier based on substrate-integrated suspended lines (SISLs) is proposed for the first time. The rectifier consists of a waveguide-to-SISL transition structure, an impedance matching network, a Schottky barrier diode (SBD), and a dc-pass filter. By utilizing a rectangular waveguide feeding structure and SISLs with self-packaging features and air cavities, the radiation and dielectric losses of the proposed rectifier are minimized. Moreover, the proposed SISL rectifier contains no lumped components except for a single SBD and a load resistor, making it particularly suitable for high-efficiency mmWave rectification. To validate the design, the rectifier is fabricated and measured. The measured results show that the RF-to-dc power conversion efficiency (PCE) exceeds 75.2% at 28 GHz with an input power of 14 dBm. In conclusion, the proposed novel SISL rectifier offers a promising solution for high-efficiency mmWave rectification, which is unprecedented in previous works.
