Deformation mechanism of CeO 2 nanocubes studied at room temperature using in situ nanocompression in environmental transmission electron microscopy

Abstract The deformation mechanism of CeO 2 nanocubes has been studied at room temperature using in situ nanocompression experiments in an environmental transmission electron microscope. Different imaging conditions were used to identify the slip systems. A size effect on the elastic strain has been determined through optimized processing by fitting the data with different models. The results are compared with those obtained from simulations and with those observed for other fluorite structures.
