THE INFLUENCE OF OPTICAL RADIATION AND ELECTRIC FIELD ON THE SOWING QUALITIES OF A CUCUMBER OF THE PHOENIX+ VARIETY

Improving the quality and quantity of vegetable products is an urgent task of agricultural production and can be achieved in various ways, including electrophysical effects on vegetable seeds. (Research purpose) The research purpose is searching for rational parameters of the optical radiation and electric field on the germination energy and germination of seeds of cucumbers of the Phoenix+ variety. (Materials and methods) Conducted studies of the effect of optical radiation with a wavelength of 590 nanometers and an electric field with a voltage of 0.5 kilovolts per centimeter on the germination energy and germination of seeds of cucumbers of the Phoenix+ variety. Additional attention was paid to the analysis of the effects of various treatment exposures and storage conditions of seeds after treatment, which contributed to stress relief after treatment and increased growth of the root and vegetative part of plants. (Results and discussion) It was found that exposure to optical radiation for 360 seconds increases germination energy by 2.33 percent, and germination by 3.33 percent compared to the control. It was determined that exposure to an electric field for 210 seconds increases germination energy by 4.65 percent, and germination by 4.44 percent. It was found that the electric field stimulated root growth, while optical radiation contributed to a more intensive development of the vegetative part. It was shown that the results indicate the prospects of using these methods to improve the quality of seeds. (Conclusions) It was noted that the pre-sowing treatment of cucumber seeds with optical radiation and an electric field serves as an effective agrotechnological technique that can be recommended for use in the cultivation of vegetable products. It was stated that the use of these methods helps to improve the sowing characteristics of seeds, accelerate germination, increase the resistance of plants to adverse environmental factors and increase their productivity.
