Applicability analysis of World Magnetic Model 2020 in China
The geomagnetic field is a crucial component of the national geographic framework, with the main magnetic field comprising the majority of the geomagnetic field. Therefore, it is imperative to establish a high-precision master magnetic field model. In order to evaluate the applicability of the World Magnetic Model in China, an analysis was conducted on the differences between the WMM2020 and WMM2015v2 models and the annual mean value of domestic geomagnetic stations. Statistical indicators such as mean value, minimum value, maximum value, and mean square deviation were introduced for assessment. When considering both statistical properties and trends of model deviations, it becomes evident that the World Magnetic Model can be utilized for calculating the main magnetic field. However, its applicability in China requires further enhancement. To improve accuracy and reliability of the geomagnetic field model, it is recommended to develop a higher-precision model based on WMM2020 by integrating surface flow data, geomagnetic station data, aviation data, satellite data, and ocean magnetic survey data in China.
