Indiana
This report about Indiana school funding briefly describes state appropriations for education relative to appropriations for other state priorities. P-12 expenditure per pupil is reported relative to the national average and adjusted formula funding for students with disabilities and English language learners is described. Pressing state issues affecting P-12 funding all require human resources management initiatives. These issues include training, attracting, and retaining teachers as well as improving third grade literacy and reducing student absenteeism. Alternatives to traditional public school are identified with emphasis on education vouchers because this alternative is becoming available to many more households than in the past.
