An uncommon delayed presentation of a large cystic hygroma in a teenage girl: a case report
Cystic hygromas are congenital malformations of lymphatic origin, that are mostly diagnosed in the perinatal period. The term “hygroma” comes from Greek meaning tumor filled with water. They are commonly found in children under 2 years and incidence decreases with age. Due to their diverse presentation, its optimum treatment often poses a potential challenge. There are only a few cases described in the literature of late teen and adult cystic hygromas and their optimum management remains a challenge. In this report, we present a case of large cervical cystic hygroma in a teenage girl with a possibility of idiopathic cause and was managed successfully by single-staged surgical excision.
