EVALUATION OF THE EFFICIENCY OF CONVERSION CIRCUITS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS

Relevance With the rapid growth in popularity of electric vehicles and the increasing need for charging infrastructure, evaluating the effectiveness of circuit solutions for charging stations is becoming an increasingly important task. Currently, the development of chargers is required to reduce the charging time of an electric vehicle, increase the efficiency of converting mains voltage to direct current to charge the battery, with high reliability and affordable cost. Aim of research This article discusses various schemes for the implementation of charging stations, in particular, the use of a single-phase converter. The circuits are compared by the values of the transmission coefficients of the filter and harmonic distortion. The higher the value of the transmission coefficient, the more effective the filter is. In turn, a low harmonic distortion coefficient means a low peak current value, less heating of the elements and a low level of electromagnetic interference. Research methods The MatLab/Simulink computer simulation environment was used to determine the transmission coefficient of the filter, as well as the harmonic distortion coefficient. Results As a result of the research, it was found that the best characteristics for use in charging stations are provided by a scheme based on a step-up alternating PFC, with a harmonic distortion coefficient of 1.31 %, which is better than that of a scheme based on a step-up PFC converter with a harmonic distortion coefficient of 2.83 %.
