Heterotopic Pregnancy after a Single Embryo Transfer Managed Laparoscopically Followed by Successful Pregnancy Outcome
Abstract Heterotopic pregnancy is a rare complication of pregnancy, with increasing rates being with artificial reproductive techniques. It involves simultaneous gestation at two sites, one being intrauterine and the other an extrauterine pregnancy. Hereby, we report the case of a female who had a history of ectopic pregnancy followed by secondary infertility. After getting investigated for the same, conceived with single blastocyst transfer. Heterotopic pregnancy was detected on routine ultrasound at 6 weeks which was managed by laparoscopic salpingectomy. She later on continued with normal pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby at term gestation.
