Aplicación de las Normas Internacionales de Información Financiera y su Efecto en la Competitividad Empresarial en Ecuador.
In Ecuador, many commercial companies still conduct their financial transactions and accounting operations in rudimentary or very basic ways, exposing themselves to significant risks regarding their stability and sustainability in the market. This issue is closely linked to low levels of business competitiveness, partly due to the limited observance and implementation of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of IFRS adoption on the competitiveness levels of Ecuadorian companies. The research followed a quantitative approach with a descriptive, exploratory, and longitudinal design. A survey was conducted in two categories —general data and IFRS knowledge— targeting 26 accountants from the selected commercial companies. Before IFRS adoption, the accounting landscape was fragmented and based on heterogeneous national standards, which hindered transparency and comparability. The adoption of IFRS has brought about global standardization, improving the comparability, transparency, and accuracy of financial information, thereby enabling more informed decision-making by investors and other stakeholders. In conclusion, the adoption of IFRS positively affects the business competitiveness of commercial companies in the province of Loja.
