DEVELOPMENT OF A PHISHING DETECTION TOOL FOR ELECTRONIC PAYMENT SYSTEMS

The proliferation of electronic payment systems has revolutionized financial transactions, offering unparalleled convenience. However, this growth has also amplified the risk of phishing attacks targeting these platforms. Addressing this critical security challenge, this study developed a novel phishing detection tool designed to enhance the security of digital payment systems. The tool leverages the RandomForestClassifier algorithm, achieving a 90% accuracy rate in identifying phishing attempts. Implemented as a user-friendly mobile application using the Kivy framework, it integrates real-time QR code analysis to detect malicious links embedded within QR codes, a prevalent phishing vector. A focus group evaluation with cybersecurity students confirmed the application's practical utility and potential to significantly improve user trust in electronic payment systems. These results demonstrate the practical value of this research, contributing to the development of effective cybersecurity measures for protecting digital financial transactions.
