Educação Quilombola: um olhar sobre possibilidades e desafios no Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia Fluminense Campus Cabo Frio

In the past, quilombos represented the resistance of slaves to the inhumanities they suffered. The quilombola communities have specific cultural characteristics and continue to struggle to guarantee their rights under legal instruments. Therefore, this study sought to analyze the educational training possibilities offered by the Fluminense Federal Institute (IFF) Cabo Frio Campus for the quilombola communities of the Região dos Lagos, as well as the training conditions that these communities would like to be served by the institution. To this end, we developed an applied and explanatory study to qualitatively examine the information gathered through bibliographical research, and data collection through a case study. Based on the information obtained from the questionnaire answered by the quilombolas, we understood the importance of these people attending training courses to expand their knowledge, as well as a way of bringing new know-how to their communities and areas of activity. We also perceived the issues of transportation and distance as predominant challenges for these communities' access to the Institute.
