Impact of Combination of Concentrate and Fermented Feed on Performance of Ongole Grade Heifers during Recondition Period
Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate impact of feeding combination of concentrate and feremented feed (Sorinfer) on the production performance of Ongole grade cattle heifer during recondition period. Total 12 heads of PO heifers with average age 1-2 years (I 0 -I 1 ) and initial body weight of 177.17±20.35 kg were used for the study. PO heifer was allotted into three group according to three different treatment namely combination of concentrate, Sorinfer and rice straw with a ratio of 50:20:30 (R1), 35:35:30 (R2), dan 20:50:30 (R3), with 4 head of heifers for each treatment. Parameters observed were feed as feed consumption, dry matter intake (DMI), crude protein (CP) intake, total digestible nutrient (TDN) intake, conversion of as feed, dry matter conversion, average daily gain (ADG), final liveweight, and feed cost over gain (FCG). The data were analysed by analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and between treatments differences were tested using Least Square Means (LS Means) method. The results showed that as fed consumption of R3 was significantly higher (P<0,05) compared to the R1 and R2 treatments. However, DMI, CP and TDN intake of R1 was significantly lower (P<0,05) compared to R2 and R3. Addition of 35% of Sorinfer (R2) on the diet provide lower feed cost over gain, with similar performance with R3 treatment (50% of Sorinfer.
