The utilization colour trap and metil eugenol combination for controlling fruits flies on chili

Abstract The research determine the effectiveness of pest control using combination of several trap colors and methyl eugenol on red chili plants. This study was carried out in February untul April 2022. Located in Kuta Baro, Blang Bladeh and Bukit Mas, Meukek District, South Aceh Regency. This research was carried out using Non-Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) arrengment by giving the combination colour trap and 2.5 ml metyl eugenol, which were repeated three times namely blue traps + 2.5 ml methyl eugenol (W1); yellow trap + 2.5 ml methyl eugenol (W2); green color trap + 2.5 ml methyl eugenol (W3); red trap + 2.5 ml methyl eugenol (W4). The observation was made on parameters of types of fruit flies, number of fruit flies, abundance and Shannon-Wiener diversity index, and evenness index. The results showed that the combination of yellow traps + 2.5 ml methyl eugenol had a significant effect on the number of fruit flies trapped. Yellow traps are effective colour traps because pests more interested in yellow. Three types of fruit flies were trapped, namely Bactrocera papayae, Bactrocera carambolae , and Bactrocera umbrosa . The Shannon-Wiener diversity index shows the low category, the relative abundance species are Bactrocera carambolae and Bactrocera umbrosa.
