Estrous performance of Balinese cows at different body condition scores and synchronization methods
Abstract This study aimed to determine the estrus performance of Bali cattle in different body size conditions and synchronization methods. The method used was a randomized block design with the first factor being the body condition score (BCS) of Bali cattle (3, 3.5, 4) (n=27) and the second factor was the synchronization method (one-time injection of PGF 2α 5 ml, injection of PGF 2α 5 ml on the first day and additional injection of PGF 2α 5 ml on the 11th day, injection of PGF 2α 5 ml on the first day followed by HCG on the 4th day). The parameters observed were the percentage of estrus, onset of estrus, duration of estrus and intensity of estrus. The results showed that synchronization using PGF 2α on the first day plus PGF 2α on the 11th day resulted in faster estrus compared to synchronization using 1 injection of PGF 2α and combined injection of PGF 2α with HCG. All Bali cattle had the same estrus intensity. All BCS levels produced the same estrus performance. Conclusion; The synchronization method by administering PGF 2α twice to Bali cattle was more effective in accelerating estrus by 39 ± 8.19 hours compared to the single PGF 2α method and the PGF 2α plus hCG method.
