Analysis of qualitative and quantitative characters and kinship relationships of several genotypes of ornamental peppers (<i>Capsicum annuum</i> L.) IPB in the F2 generation
Abstract Ornamental chili is an ornamental fruit plant that is usually grown in a pot and can function as an ornamental plant indoors or outdoors. Ornamental chili plants can function as ornamental plants and as plants for consumption. This research was carried out in Lambhuk village, Ulee Kareng District, Banda Aceh, and the Laboratory of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University. This research has been conducted from December 2023 to March 2024. This study uses a non-factorial Random Group Design (RGD). In this study, five genotypes of ornamental chili of the F 2 generation were used, including F 2 V 1 A 4 , F 2 A 5 N 5 , F 2 AV, F 2 A 5 S 3 , and F 2 N 15 A 10 and four elder varieties as comparators, Ayesha, Nazla, Syakira and Violeta which were repeated four times, so that there were a total of 36 experimental units. Each experimental unit consists of five plants so in total there are 180 plants observed in this study. The results showed that the F 2 AV genotype was better in the parameters of flowering age while F 2 A 5 S 3 was better in the parameters of plant height and the number of fruits per plant. The results of kinship divided all genotypes into 3 groups, group 1 consisted of six genotypes, namely Syakira, F 2 V 1 A 4 , Ayesha, F 2 AV, F 2 A 5 N 5 , and F 2 A 5 S 3 . Group II consists of only one genotype, namely Violeta. Group III consists of two genotypes, namely Nazla and F 2 N 15 A 10 . Genotypes in the same group show a degree of similarity and close kinship.
