Agronomic performance and productivity of improved landraces rice lines under upland cultivation system

Abstract Improvement of local rice Tinggong has been carried out by crossing it with the isogenic line IRBB27. Several new lines have been produced and it showed that these lines were molecularly identified as having the sd-1 and xa-27 genes. However, the effectiveness of these lines has not been tested under the upland cultivation system, so testing was carried out in this research. The research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University from December 2023 to April 2024. The experimental design used was a non-factorial group randomized design consisting of 7 lines namely T35.7.5.13.5; T35.7.5.16.4; T35.12.8.2.1; T35.7.3.1.2; T36.10.3.19.1; T38.1.4.4.1 and T35.7.5.1.3. The results showed that the progenies lines Tinggong had a very significant effect on panicle length, weight of 1,000 grains, and estimated yield per plot. However, they did not significantly affect plant height and number of tillers at 28, 42, and 56 days after transplanting (DAT), productive tillers, flowering time, harvesting time, and decreased harvest time. Tinggong progeny lines have a faster harvest time compared to their parents, ranging from 122.00-128.00 DAS with an estimated yield ranging from 0.65 - 1.05 kg plot −1 .
