Three Forms of Phenomenology and Process Philosophy
Abstract What kind of phenomenology might be best suited to relate to process philosophy? Three kinds of phenomenology can be distinguished: one of respect, a second of suspicion, and a third characterized by a sense of emancipation. Crudely speaking, the first seems to evoke ontological considerations, the second epistemological concerns, while the third focuses on political awareness. A start can be made regarding a phenomenology of respect in the hands of Husserl sustaining a prephenomenological “natural attitude” rendered in our life's constant world situation and which, taken as such by scientific inquiry, is not rejected.
