Deuteration of organic compounds by electrolysis of glucose-heavy water using a graphene oxide membrane reactor
This study explores the cost-effective synthesis of deuterium-labelled compounds <i>via</i> electrolysis of glucose-heavy water (D2O) employing a proton-conducting graphene oxide membrane (GOM) with Pt/C and IrO2/Al2O3. C(sp3)-H bonds of mono, double, and triple methyl groups in aromatic compounds were successfully deuterated with high deuterium incorporation (%) and excellent yield (%).
