SR motor (6/4) Drive, design and control using MPPT and Cuk converter for EV application

The switching reluctance motor (SRM) is a longstanding member of the Electric Machines family, valued for its straightforward construction, durability, and cost-effective manufacturing, making it well-suited for industrial applications. This paper explores speed control of an SRM using the feedback control method combined with a proportional integral (PI) controller. The design, modelling, and simulation of a 6/4 SRM have been carried out. The proposed technique is readily applicable in implementations utilizing more powerful CPUs. A 60KW, 8000RPM machine prototype was designed, constructed, and tested under load and no-load conditions using single pulse and hysteresis band current regulation. This machine could be used for direct drive in washing machines as well as electric automobiles. The study suggests designing an MPPT controller and Position Sensor for a 6/4 SRM under various load circumstances. The simulation's outcomes were contrasted.
