A comparative study of dual-SC and dual-MRC over SBX fading channels
The signals in wireless communication channel are impacted by different types of fading during a transmission. One of the ways to tackle the ill-effects of multipath fading is by using diversity method. This paper evaluates dual- selection combining (SC) diversity and dual-maximal ratio combining (MRC) diversity through Shadowed Beaulieu-Xie (SBX). SBX is a composite model which characterizes a communication environment consisting of line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight signals components together. A comparative study has been conducted in respect of outage probability and average bit error rate for dual-SC and dual-MRC over SBX fading channel. The consequences of fading and shadowing parameters on the system performances are also considered. The results are analytically obtained and validated using Monte-Carlo simulation.
