Novel Call Records Archiving Approach for High-speed Railway Lines in Serbia
Call recording and archiving are essential components of the railway safety system, ensuring communication transparency and enabling the reconstruction of events and incidents. These systems capture and store conversations for analysis, safety compliance, training and incident investigation. Traditionally, call recording and archiving were managed by the, so-called, registrophone, a hardware device designed to capture voice communication among railway personnel. However, with the infrastructure softwarization, the functionalities of the registrophone have been distributed across several components. This paper discusses the Central Call Records Archive CRS (srb. Centralni Registar Snimaka) archiving solution which addresses the challenges posed by the softwarization of the registrophone. The new fault-tolerant solution ensures the reliability, scalability, and seamless integration with the existing infrastructure, focusing on secure and reliable data storage, resilient processes and cryptographic methods to provide data integrity, prevent data loss in unforeseen circumstances and guarantee call record origin. The proposed system enhances the railway telecommunications infrastructure, providing a more efficient and robust solution for managing call recordings and archives. The presented call record archiving was designed for Railway Dispatcher Central System SPDC (srb. Sistem Pružne Dispečerske Centrale) realized in high-speed railway lines in the Republic of Serbia.
