Fractional Order PID Controlled Interleaved KY Converter with Reduced Current Ripple

In this paper, a novel DC-DC boost converter, namely ILKYC (Interleaved KY converter) is presented. This converter resembles the behaviour of a boost converter by possessing fast source transient response. Since there are four switches present, the switching stress on each switch is minimized. The output current ripple is minimized as well due to the interleaving process. Above all, the principal advantage of the ILKYC over a typical DC-DC boost converter is that the input ripple current is massively minimized due to the interleaving. This not only reduces the stress on the DC power source, but it also improves its lifetime. A thorough description and illustration of the newly proposed ILKYC is presented along with simulation results to showcase the potency of the new converter. The results of PID and FOPID controlled ILKYCS are compared. The response of FOPID controlled ILKYCS is superior to the response of PID controlled ILKYCS.
