A comprehensive approach for ranking of Solar power plants using hybrid MEREC-G and WISP in India
The selection of a site is an important task in the construction of a solar photovoltaic power plant, as countries are transitioning to renewable energy sources and not every location is suited for producing solar energy. The possible explanations for this can be encapsulated as the decrease in the availability of fossil fuels and the increase in pollution and the implementation of an evaluation model to ascertain the best place to build a solar power plant. Weighted criteria are implemented after restricted regions are excluded to generate the required calculation. Given that renewable energy sources are both environmentally benign and cost-effective, it is logical for countries with significant solar energy potential, such as India, to prioritize solar energy as a renewable energy source in their energy policies. The implementation of MCDM in this paper for choosing locations for solar power plants in India is done by identifying twenty-one impact factors. MEREC-G is employed to weight impact factors, which are subsequently ranked using the WISP method.
