Comparative Study of Integration topologies with NaS Battery for Hybrid Renewable Systems
With ambitious plans for improving renewable penetration in the country, energy storage has become an indispensable solution for integrating it into the Indian grid today. It is crucial that storage is planned and installed in sync with the renewable power systems to avoid integration and grid instability issues in the future. This study was undertaken with the motive of exploring the feasibility of implementing storage solutions for wind-PV hybrid renewable system with the aim of making the system more reliable for scheduling and dispatching. A sizing methodology was proposed using optimization algorithm to evaluate the most optimum capacity required by including battery aging and sizing standards. The sizing methodology of batteries are tested and validated with the data from a hybrid wind-PV system. This paper presents the development and implementation of different energy management strategies and analyzes them to help understand their effects on the performance of the storage system and the HRES. Thus, proved that, battery storage is a feasible and profitable venture for the wind-PV system considered in the study.
