C13-15-1: A Promising Muscadine Grape Breeding Line for White Wine
‘C13-15-1’ is a new muscadine grape breeding line selected for white wine at the Center for Viticulture, Florida A&M University. This selection is self-fertile and productive, it has produced fine white wine with a fruity aroma, pleasant flavor, and clear finish. Its moderately vigorous vines are disease resistant and have a remarkably lower fruit rot rate than other bronze muscadine grapes during ripening. ‘C13-15-1’ fruits ripen in early September at Tallahassee, FL, about a week later than the leading wine cultivars, ‘Carlos’ and ‘Noble’.
