Florida Bell Pepper Novel Treatments Profitability Risk Assessments

Bacterial spot on pepper can severely impact yields and increase production costs thus threatening the long-term viability and profitability of the industry. Though many have proven effective, adoption of novel treatment techniques has been hindered due to the lack of information on the implementation costs. This study fills the gap by providing a risk analysis of adopting novel control methods for Florida. We conduct partial budgeting and stochastic modeling to assess the risks of adopting each treatment. Partial budgeting is used to reflect how each treatment affects the cost of production. The net returns for each practice are calculated and compared to determine the economic feasibility of each treatment.
