MECHANICAL JAUNDICE AND PRINCIPLES OF MODERN DIAGNOSTICS
The aim of the study is to determine the most effective diagnostic methods to improve the outcome of patients with mechanical jaundice. Comparative analysis of diagnostic accuracy of magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography and percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography with percutaneous transhepatic drainage of bile ducts in mechanical jaundice was studied. The study included the results of examination and treatment of 180 patients with mechanical jaundice. Distribution of patients with mechanical jaundice by age: from 25-40 years old – 12 (6.66%), 41-60 years old – 19 (10.55%) patients, 61-70 years old – 65 (36.11%), 71-80 years old – 84 (46.66%). Among the admitted men there were 75 (41.64%) people, women – 105 (58.33%) people. The main causes of mechanical jaundice were both benign and malignant neoplasms, they were differentiated for effective treatment and further prognosis. Comprehensive diagnostic studies were performed using ultrasonography, contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CTC), MRCP, and PTC. The diagnostic results of ultrasonography and CTCs were initially evaluated, after which each patient underwent MRCP. These results were then compared with PTC, focusing on identifying the causes and levels of biliary obstruction.
