PINEAL GLAND AND MECHANISMS OF ITS ONCOSTATIC EFFECTS
Melatonin, as a key regulator of the sleep-wake cycle, plays an important role not only in the management of biorhythms, but also in modulating the immune response and antioxidant activity. Studies show that melatonin receptors found in a variety of tissues, including malignancies, can have an impact on cancer growth and progression. The article analyzes data on the mechanisms of action of melatonin at the cellular level. The goal is to analyze the literature, to identify the role of melatonin and the pineal gland in carcinogenesis and its mechanisms of action on tumor cells. Particular attention is paid to the results of studies that provide new prospects for the use of melatonin, including as a potential therapeutic agent in oncology.
