Failure mode of single shear and double shear porous panel with different rotation angles

Abstract This article utilized polylactic acid (PLA) material combined with fused deposition modeling (FDM) technology to fabricate porous structural panels with regular hexagons of varying rotation angles as the basic configuration. A method was utilized quasi-static tensile experiment and finite element simulation analysis. The influence of rotation angle on the shear force distribution and load-bearing capacity of single and double shear porous structural panels were explored. The results showed that layup sequence affected the force on the inter-layer interface, and an appropriate layup angle can optimize the stress distribution and reduced the risk of inter-layer failure. The double-shear structure had strong bearing capacity and stability. For applications that require high shear resistance, the 15° configuration should be considered.
