Social Action after the Palu Natural Disasters in Max Weber's Perspective
September 28, 2018, was the most significant natural disaster event in history in Palu, with three types of tragedies: earthquake, tsunami, and liquefaction. Natural disasters cause impacts, but life continues with the ability to act socially. This research analyzed social action after the Palu natural disasters from Max Weber’s perspective. This research used a qualitative method with a literature review approach. The researchers used articles in journals, proceedings, and book chapters from databases such as Sinta, Scopus, DOAJ, and Google Scholar. These were then analyzed and discussed using books by Max Weber related to social action theory. This research found that social action after natural disasters in Palu includes four ideal types: instrumental rational action, value-rational action, emotional action, and traditional action. Each ideal type reflects uniqueness and distinctiveness. The actors played an important role in helping Palu be better than before by helping with recovery, development, and empowerment.
