Impact of the σ -cut potential in the properties of neutron star matter

We analyze the effect of the $\ensuremath{\sigma}$ potential on the characteristics of pure nucleonic and hyperon-rich neutron star matter with recently proposed, well-constrained relativistic mean field model. The $\ensuremath{\sigma}$-cut potential is recognized for diminishing the influence of the $\ensuremath{\sigma}$ field, leading to a stiffer equation of state at high densities. This ultimately results in increased neutron star masses without altering the characteristics of nuclear matter at nuclear saturation density. We further examined the impact of the $\ensuremath{\sigma}$-cut potential on symmetric nuclear matter, symmetry energy as well as neutron star matter with pure nucleonic and hyperon-rich cores, and compared it to the existing theoretical, experimental, and observational data.
