Novel parameters based trigonometric probability distribution having bathtub shape with bounded support

This study takes a fresh approach to acquire the naturally occurring trigonometric distribution based on the unit interval. The proposed distribution has been referred to as the new unit rational sine (NURS) distribution considering it emerged via the sine transformed function. The lately implied distribution relies on single (shape) parameter that can influence the shape of density function with closed form expressions for quantile function. The functional form of its cumulative distribution function (CDF) and probability density function (PDF) is adorned with quite varying PDF, CDF, and failure rate function shapes allowing it to fit customized data. Computation have been made for some properties, such as the quantile function, moments, and order statistics. The statistical approach of maximum likelihood is implemented for the estimation of NURS parameter. Subsequently, a simulation study was carried out to check the convergence properties of the estimated parameter. Lastly, three real-time data sets are examined for illustrating the effectiveness of the proposed method.
