Prevalence of Escherichia coli in chicken meat and meat products in Egypt

Meat from chicken source is considered one of the most common foods all over the world being easily digested, easily prepared, tasty nutritious food in addition for being economically reasonable. However, it constitutes one of the highly nutritious media for many micro-organisms, especially Escherichia coli (E. coli).Many steps in the production of raw chicken meat and meat products from slaughtering till reaching the consumers can be responsible for microbial contamination by foodborne bacteria. The current review covers the so far reported data on the incidence of E.coli in chicken meat and meat products in Egypt.
