It is widely used in thoracic surgery. Over time, the application of chest drainage tubes in thoracic surgery has significantly evolved. This article provides a comprehensive review of the types, placement, fixation, drainage systems, indications, timing for removal, complications, and the possibility of avoiding chest drainage tubes, based on both domestic and international literature.
