Screening Advanced Russet Potato Breeding Clones for Resistance to Silver Scurf
Silver scurf of potato ( Solanum tuberosum L.), caused by Helminthosporium solani, is a surface blemish disease negatively impacting tuber quality and market value. Symptoms include brown to grayish lesions on the tuber surface that develop a characteristic silver sheen when wet. This study evaluated 17 advanced russet potato breeding clones for potential resistance to silver scurf. Minituber screening trials were conducted at the Washington State University Mount Vernon Northwestern Washington Research and Extension Center.
