Pioneering Digital Transformation of Product and Service Delivery Workflow: Global Application with Local Customized Solution for Energy Industry
Abstract The ever-increasing complexity of field operations in the energy industry, with a focus on reducing the carbon footprint, requires agile digital workflows to address the limitations of legacy operational system applications associated with erroneous data capturing and non-standardized, subjective approaches. This innovative workflow, adapted to U.S. land cementing operations, illustrates how global digital transformation can bring efficiency with local customized solutions. For cementing operations, numerous short-duration jobs are scheduled daily. Unlike legacy systems, the current customer-oriented design and integrated infrastructure have drastically reduced the lead time for information exchange from the customer to various functions of the service provider, resulting in improved service quality with minimal leakage of cementing materials and labor-hours. All demands for cementing materials are now maintained dynamically and accurately so that bulk plants can be ready to fulfill those demands in a short time, minimizing both contingency inventory of material and cementing units. The central job planning and execution application has been customized to fit various cementing business workflows in U.S. land locations. Integration between nine different applications, including those for workforce management, cement bulk plant management, and asset allocation and mobilization, has been carefully laid out. The latest technology has been used to automate data exchange between these applications, providing clear visibility to different stakeholders at various stages of the cementing operations job cycle. The strategic deployment of the new framework, facilitated by advanced integration technology and logical design between global applications and locally customized applications for cementing operations, resulted in swift adoption by cementing management, job supervisors, and equipment operators. Key outcomes include: Annual workload reduction of approximately 4,000 labor-hoursBetter forecasting of demand, minimizing contingency inventoryImproved reconciliation of cementing material consumption with financial dataProcedural adherence, driving cost savings With the reduction in wastage and an increase in operational efficiency, this is a collaborative step to reduce the carbon footprint in cementing operations within the energy industry. By harnessing the power of high-quality data, we have opened the door to revolutionary analytics capabilities. This transformation boosts efficiency, reliability, safety, cost savings, and service quality in U.S. land cementing operations. This innovative framework also ensures the longevity of U.S. land cementing operations, providing a flexible infrastructure to seamlessly integrate emerging AI technologies and propel continued innovation.
