Parenting and Ethical Deliberations on the Use of Technology as a Mode of Care

Abstract The present-day challenges of meeting deadlines in the professional space and simultaneously maintaining work-life balance in the personal domain have aggravated mental anxiety and physical discomfort among parents of young children, especially among mothers. So, they are taking recourse to the aid of Artificial Intelligence which may enable them to exercise their autonomy. Nevertheless, the usage of technology to assure parents of children’s safety can raise red flags about rules of relationship between the carer(s) and the users or the parents. This paper explores the ethical debate surrounding the use of digital monitoring tools, like nanny cams, to safeguard children. It also examines how technology and parental caregiving can work together as a collaborative approach. The paper focuses on the related ethical concerns contextualizing the ethics of care, relationship rules, and the critical significance of trust, agency, etc.
