Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic index for the assessment of clinical efficacy of the antimicrobial drug «Ciproventor»

The use of antibiotics in global livestock production has increased significantly in recent years, reaching 130,000 tonnes in 2013 and projected to reach 200,000 tonnes by 2030. Concurrently, the emergence of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms represents a significant challenge, underscoring the necessity to preserve the sensitivity of microorganisms to existing drugs. One potential avenue for addressing this problem is the application of the pharmacological profile, which is denoted as a PK/PD index. This includes indices such as AUC(0-24)/MIC index and C(max)/MIC index. These indices are of significant importance in optimising the clinical efficacy of antibiotics and in preventing the development of drug resistance in bacteria. The present study concerns the antimicrobial drug «Ciproventor», which is used in poultry farming. The aim of this study is to comparatively analyse the pharmacokinetic parameters of the drug, particularly in relation to the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC90), which is required to inhibit the growth of more than 90% of bacterial strains. The determination of pharmacological index values is the basis of the study (AUC(0-24)/MIC and C(max)/MIC90), which permit the evaluation of the efficacy of the drug against diverse bacterial pathogens isolated from pathological material of birds, thus reducing the risk of the selection of resistant strains.
