The effect of hypoglycemic drugs on the glycemic curve of dogs with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus
The aim of the study was to identify changes in the glycemic curve in dogs with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus after the use of hypoglycemic drugs. The objects of the study were male beagle cattle and mongrel individuals (n=12) aged 4 months with alloxan diabetes mellitus. In dogs with IHD, interval glucose monitoring was performed electrochemically using a blood glucose monitoring system before and after subcutaneous administration of insulins (VINSUVET mix 30/70 ANIMALPEN, Caninsulin, Lantus® SoloStar®, Protophan NM) at a dose of 0.5 IU/kg body weight per 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240, 270, 300, 360, 420, 540, 600, 660, 720, 800 and 860 minutes. It was established that in dogs with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, subcutaneous administration of VINSUVET MIX 30/70 ANIMALPEN insulin at a dose of 0.5 IU/kg of body weight initiates a significant initial hypoglycemic effect lasting for 690,0±90,3 minutes. Based on the data obtained, the hypoglycemic drug under study has a biphasic effect and belongs to medium-duration insulins. When comparing the hypoglycemic effects of the studied insulins in dogs with diabetes mellitus, their ability to utilize glucose from the blood into insulin-dependent tissues was confirmed. The tested insulins, depending on their hypoglycemic activity, were distributed in the downward direction as follows: Vinsuvet insulin Mix 30/70 ANIMALPEN, Protophan NM, Lantus® SoloStar®, Caninsulin.
