OS BENEFÍCIOS DA PRÁTICA DO EXERCÍCIO FÍSICO DURANTE O PERÍODO GESTACIONAL

Pregnancy is a period of significant biopsychosocial changes. Carrying a fetus involves multiple aspects and can impact quality of life. The female body adapts to ensure the necessary conditions for fetal development, including increased capacity of the cardiovascular, respiratory, and urinary systems, among others. However, this period is also marked by complications and potential pregnancy-related diseases that can be prevented or treated. Physical exercise is the primary tool for strengthening the body and preventing pathological conditions. In this context, the question arises: what are the benefits of physical exercise during pregnancy? Thus, the general objective is to understand the benefits of physical exercise during the gestational period. To conduct this study, an integrative review method was used on the platforms Scielo, Capes Journals, and BVS, covering the period from 2020 to 2025. In the research selection, 54 articles were retrieved, but only five were included as they aligned with the thematic proposal. The results indicate that physical exercise is widely recommended for pregnant women due to its improvement in quality of life before and after childbirth, as well as its role in regulating, preventing, and treating certain pathologies. Therefore, it is concluded that physical exercise brings benefits to pregnant women but should always be supervised by a Physical Education professional and the responsible physician to address individual needs and limitations.
