(ZrTiHfNi)85Nb15 high-entropy amorphous alloy preparation and APS coating wear and corrosion resistance
• High-entropy amorphous alloy powder with excellent thermal stability was prepared. • The APS coating has better wear resistance and corrosion resistance . • The cation doping substitution can reduce the concentration of point defects and promote cation diffusion to form oxides . A novel (ZrTiHfNi) 85 Nb 15 high-entropy amorphous ribbon was prepared with excellent thermal stability using a single-roll melt-spinning method. The powder of the corresponding component was prepared using ultrasonic atomization technology, and APS coating was obtained using plasma spraying technology. The atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) coating has an amorphous/nanocrystalline composite structure with high hardness and good wear resistance. As the temperature increases from room temperature to 400 °C, the main wear forms change from fatigue and slight oxidized wear to strong oxidized wear, delamination failure, and adhesive wear. The competitive oxidation relationship during the formation of multi-principal element passivation films was analyzed through thermodynamic calculations. The cation doping substitution process can reduce the concentration of point defects in the passivation film and promote cation diffusion to form oxides. The passivation film protection performance of the coating is weakened due to the reduction of Nb 5+ .
