SOME THOUGHTS ON THE PSYCHODYNAMICS OF STAND-UP COMEDY
The article discusses ways to explain the essence of stand-up comedy and its increasing popularity. The domestic approach most often consists in placing stand-up in a number of other comic genres, therefore, the positive assessment of this relatively new phenomenon is due to the generally recognised function of humor - the implementation of social criticism. In addition to this aspect, English-language sources pay attention to the disturbing and immoral sides of the genre. Sometimes there is a thought that stand-up comedy helps to comprehend the routine. Based on modern (intersubjective) psychoanalysis, one can grasp another important function of stand-up: it helps to differentiate and assign affect, to make it a part of the experience of “one’s own life”, thereby giving the latter the qualities of reality and value.
